Our custom hockey jerseys come in two weights for two jobs: a heavier game sweater with a stitched crest and numbers that stands up to boards and sticks, and a lighter sublimated practice jersey that is cheap to replace. Hockey kit traditions exist for practical reasons, and we keep them.
How should a hockey jersey fit over pads?
Roomy enough to pull over shoulder and elbow pads without strain, and long enough to overlap the top of the pants, so nothing rides up in a board battle. Size by the pads players actually wear, give goalies their own chart, and list sock sizes separately because they follow the shin guard.
What are hockey jerseys made from?
Game sweaters use a heavier polyester game-sweater fabric built to carry stitched crests and numbers, and practice jerseys are micro polyester interlock or bird-eye mesh, dye sublimated. Collars and cuffs can be finished in 1x1 rib, base layers are poly-spandex jersey, and rink-side hoodies come in brushed fleece for cold arenas.

What should you check before ordering custom hockey jerseys?
Split game and practice. Stitched game sweaters last the season; lighter printed practice jerseys take the weekly wear.
Where a league insists on a fight strap, also called a tie-down, make it part of the pattern, not an afterthought sewn on later.
Goalies need their own pattern, with extra width in the chest and sleeves and a longer body to cover the equipment.
What do hockey leagues require on a jersey?
Leagues usually call for a back number repeated on each sleeve, a C or an A for captains and alternates, and in many junior and adult leagues a fight strap. USA Hockey, Hockey Canada and high school associations each publish equipment rules. Name bars stitched on as separate panels let a sweater pass to a new player next season. How should hockey jerseys be sized over pads?
The pads underneath set the size, not a chest measurement. Each age band, from youth to senior, comes from its own pattern, and goalies from theirs. Socks are sized on their own because their length follows the shin guard. Ordering a size set alongside the sample is the dependable route.
