How to measure
- Waist
- Around the natural waist, the narrowest part of the torso a little above the belly button, after a normal breath out. Do not pull in.
- Hip
- Heels together, around the widest part of the hips and seat, tape level.
- Height
- Barefoot, back against a wall, heels touching it, looking straight ahead: mark the top of the head with a flat object and measure floor to mark.
- The waist barely stretches: choose by waist. Fight-short numbers as a guide: XS 28, S 30, M 32-34, L 36-38, XL 40-42 in waist.
- Between sizes, size up and pull the drawcord; a tight fixed waist cannot be let out.
- Check your code before using fight shorts in a two-piece competition uniform.

How to measure
- 1/2 waist (fastened)
- Fasten the fly; lay flat and measure straight across the top of the waistband.
- 1/2 hip
- Lay flat; measure straight across 18 cm (youth 13 cm) below the top of the waistband.
- Inseam
- From the crotch seam straight down the inside leg to the hem.
- 1/2 leg opening
- Lay flat; straight across the leg hem (side split closed).
- Front rise
- From the crotch seam up the front to the top of the waistband.
- Outseam
- From the top of the waistband straight down the side to the hem.
Finished measurements of our standard pattern for this cut, within ±1.5 cm½ in. Your sample confirms the fit before the order is made, and we can cut to your own size chart instead.
About the custom wrestling fight shorts
Custom wrestling fight shorts close with a hook-and-loop fly and carry side panels in your colors. They suit the practice room and, where your code accepts them, the shorts half of a two-piece uniform.
Under NFHS a team may wrestle in a compression top and fitted shorts instead of a singlet, provided the school issues them and every wrestler matches. Whether a particular fight short meets that depends on your code and its current rules. Send the rules before ordering for competition, and we tell you what the design has to follow.
For practice, fight shorts give more room than a singlet and can go over WR-008 base-layer shorts or WR-007 base-layer spats. For a two-piece, they pair with WR-005 short-sleeve compression shirts made from the same artwork. Wrestlers who prefer a tie waist can take WR-003 board shorts instead. The side panels can carry your second color or a stripe from the singlet design. Youth, junior and senior sizes come from separate patterns. New wrestlers joining in January can be fitted out with a few pairs and nothing more.
