How to measure
- Waist
- Around the natural waist, the narrowest part of the torso a little above the belly button, after a normal breath out. Do not pull in.
- Hip
- Heels together, around the widest part of the hips and seat, tape level.
- Size by hip; on a boundary, take the smaller for compression or the larger for comfort.
- Inseam per player: 6.5 / 7.5 / 9 / 10 / 12.5 cm (2.5 / 3 / 3.5 / 4 / 5 in).
- Waistband and gusset are the same on the match short and the competition short.

- 1/2 waist (relaxed)
- Lay flat, waistband unstretched; measure straight across the top edge.
- 1/2 waist (stretched)
- Same line with the flat waistband stretched gently; spandex stretches well past this, the figure is the comfortable limit.
- 1/2 hip
- Lay flat; measure straight across 18 cm below the top of the waistband (12 cm on youth sizes).
- Inseam (standard)
- From the crotch seam down the inside leg to the hem.
- Outseam
- From the top of the waistband down the side to the hem.
- 1/2 leg opening
- Lay flat; measure straight across the leg hem.

About the custom volleyball poly-spandex match shorts
Custom poly-spandex volleyball shorts are built around two details: a flat waistband that does not roll and a gusset that lets the short move. Together they keep the short where it was put through digs, dives and lunges.
The fabric is poly-spandex jersey, 88% polyester and 12% elastane, with four-way stretch. It is polyester-rich enough to sublimate, so the waistband, side or leg can carry your colors or a small mark. Inseams are chosen per player on the roster, so no one ends up in a length they will not wear.
The short goes with any of the volleyball jerseys, from VB-003 short-sleeve through VB-006 cap-sleeve to VB-005 sleeveless. If you want the waistband in a contrasting color, look at VB-009 competition shorts; for a longer, looser leg, VB-010 athletic shorts. Women's and men's shorts come from separate patterns, with youth sizes cut on their own. Because the color is printed into the fabric, nothing on the short can crack or peel as it stretches. A size set with the sample settles the fit question before the full run.

What does the gusset do?
It is an extra panel at the crotch that lets the short stretch with the player. Without one, a spandex short pulls and rides up on a deep dig.
Poly-spandex match short or competition short?
Both are spandex shorts. VB-009 competition shorts add a waistband in a contrasting color; VB-008 keeps a flat waistband in one design with the short.
